Not Your Papi’s Utopia: Latinx Visions of Radical Hope is the final installment of our Latinx speculative fiction trilogy. The first two anthologies, Latinx Rising and Speculative Fiction for Dreamers, were designed to demonstrate the history and vibrancy of the Latinx speculative. This third anthology is a response to our current moment and is meant to summon the innovative utopian visions and the radical hope needed to directly face our environmental and social problems. The purpose of the anthology is to activate the imagination, to develop neural pathways to a better future, to engage with the Zapatista concept of “a world where many worlds fit.” The challenges we face are global, and we must meet the challenges as they are, and so the scope of this anthology is also larger than the previous two in that we have included work from outside the U.S. In this way, Not Your Papi’s Utopia expresses some hope that the bonds connecting Latin America, the Caribbean, and U.S. Latinx communities can be strengthened.
